New Trailer and Pictures for The Amazing Spider-Man (May 3, 2012)

The Amazing Spider-Man
I've always like watching movie adaptations of comic books from Marvel and DC. They almost always entice me to think I am very special just like the superheroes. What's wrong with thinking you're special right? And as a treat for us superhero movie fanatic we have here a new trailer from The Amazing Spider-Man just released last May 3, 2012.

Just when we thought we already had our fill of the movie through its first trailer, we have once again experienced the awe after seeing some new clips, especially the funny side of Peter Parker. No offense to Tobey, but I can't seem to find some hilarious moments when he acted out as Peter, unlike Andrew Garfield. I am very sure Marc Webb has done a very good job of making this movie feel very different from its predecessors.

So to ease your pain, here is the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man:

Luckily, I have snagged a new poster and some images from the net and they are most definitely very appetizing.

The Amazing Spider-Man is a reboot of the old series that was directed by Sam Raimi. The story will relive the high school days of Peter Parker -- Spider-Man minus his costume -- and his struggles to find his identity. This is the arc where the original trilogy most definitely didn't focus on much and it's nice to see a younger Peter in action. He will face the Lizard, who will be played by Rhys Ifans, as the villain of this movie. If you could remember Rhys played the twisted Xenophilius Lovegood in the Harry Potter series. CGI aside I thinks he very unrecognizable and very villainous that is.

Isn't this new trailer of The Amazing Spider-Man a nice way to urge us to watch the movie on its release this coming July 3, 2012? I am so excited.

Latest on Life of Pi Movie Adaptation: Picture and Details

Life of Pi
From time to time we discover books that are so wonderful we cannot rest until we see them adapted to movies. And then we will be disappointed that not all from the book were translated into the cinematic view of the wide screen. There are also times where we simply don't care how bad the movie was since the book was very good just the same. So when Fox decided to adapt Yann Martel's Life of Pi to a movie, I was a little hesitant.

This story is a favorite of many and I was saddened that I will be once again disappointed with the differences between the book and its adaptation. But when news of the progress of the movie take light I was a little relieved. From hiring a great director to the latest picture from the movie, my uncertainty was slowly melting down.

See for your self why I was now a little confident of the movie -- with its latest movie picture:

This is much like a reminiscent of the book's cover featuring Pi Patel and a Bengal tiger taking a chance for survival. Here is the almost-the-same-concept book cover, if you haven't seen it yet:

Actually Pi will not be sharing the lifeboat with a tiger only, but with a few other animals, including a hyena, a zebra and an orangutan. They will have to contend with each other after the freighter that they were boarding on sank. Pi was the only human survivor of the incident. But of course, what will you get if you put together carnivorous animals and prey in one place? Mayhem, or is it not?

To be directed by Ang Lee, helmer of the amazing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the movie was originally scheduled for release on December 14, 2012, but was pushed back a week later due to the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on the same date. The movie is starred by Tobey Maguire who will play the narrator of the movie, Yann Martel, together with and 17-year old Indian newcomer Suraj Sharma as the lead character. David Magee is to adapt the screenplay of the movie.

Watch for your self how this encounter turns out and wonder no more if Pi will survive and live along to tell the tale or not.

Iron Man 3: Who's Who and What are the Latest News

Iron Man
Now that all Marvel merchandise are taken under the care of Disney, many were a little worried of how this Superhero universe will move on. But after seeing the box office hits and the fan's hyperactive reactions on Thor and the upcoming Avengers movie, fans could certainly take a rest on fretting that Disney might ruin our favorite heroes after all.

Delighted movie goers were in for a treat after seeing the first few trailers and clips of The Avengers, where each and every of the previously featured Heroes have their own solo movie. This just added to my urge to dig in on what's going to happen to the individual movie arc of each characters. And this time let's see what's up with the third installment of Iron Man.

Right after the release of Iron Man 2 last April 2010, Jon Favreau revealed that he won't be coming back to direct the movie. So, after some time-cracking negotiations and deals, Iron Man 3 will now be under the supervision of director Shane Black, best known for the amazing and highly admired Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. The movie will be based on the screenplay by Drew Pearce, who will also adapt another Robert Downey, Jr. project: Sherlock Holmes 3.

Of course, Robert Downey, Jr. will return to play the role of the multi-billion dollar playboy engineer and industrialist, Tony Stark, Iron Man minus his suit. Known to be the last movie in the Iron Man trilogy, Iron Man 3 will feature a very non-conventional villain. Since Favreau established the movie world in a most realistic way, producers and movie-makers are having quite an issue placing Mandarin as the villain of the movie.

Ben Kingsley

Aside from being a super-genius and an expert on martial arts, Mandarin also possesses ten rings with magical powers and this just doesn't fit in the world the previous director has created. Favreau also added that "the problem with the Mandarin is that the way it's depicted in the comic books, you don't want to see that. He has 10 magical rings... So it's either tech-based, or the rings are not really rings." But I am sure they will find a way to make this story line realistic.

Guy Pearce
Ben Kingsley has just been revealed to play the villain should negotiations come through. Together with another new addition to the franchise Guy Pearce, who will play the geneticist Aldrich Killian, the inventor of the Extremis serum, a substance that makes anyone who takes it much stronger and powerful. I was glad to have read this arc thanks to a local Marvel publishing company that featured all six issues of the story line. Now I guess I will have to read it again.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, also revealed the shooting of the movie will start in less than five weeks from now. He also said that this movie will be Tony Stark-centric, a reminiscent of the first half part of the first Iron Man movie. It will feel like the Avengers movie has never happened because he can't ask for help with his fellow super heroes. He will have to face every threat alone.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle will reprise their roles as well.

Keira Knightley Plays the Lead in Anna Karenina Movie

Keira Knightley
This 27-year old English beauty that was once a part of The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has now moved on to play other roles rather than the kick ass Elizabeth Swann. She is once again playing a role in a period movie, where the cast is burdened by the heavy but gorgeous attires of the 19th century.

For her latest acting gig she will be playing a title character based on a published work, Anna Karenina. Knightley is not new to playing roles adapted from classic novels. She was once played another main character named Elizabeth (surnamed Bennet) for the 2005 adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, which earned her a nomination for Best Actress in the Academy Awards.

Check out these photos for the movie Anna Karenina staring Keira Knightley:

In this movie, Knightley will be starring with another veteran actor, Jude Law, who will play the role of her husband. Her role was once cast to Saoirse Ronan, who dropped out of the movie and is now busy filming for The Host movie. The other cast of actors for this movie are Aaron Johnson, who will play her young love, and also Domhnall Gleeson, Michelle Dockery, Olivia Williams, Kelly Macdonald and Matthew Macfadyen.

Watch Keira Knightly as the beloved Anna Karenina on the movie's premiere this November 9, 2012.

Emma Watson Shows Off Tramp Stamp Tattoo for The Bling Ring

Emma Watson
Just like her famed character from the Harry Potter series, Emma Watson, who just turned 22 years old last Sunday, has transformed from a goody-two-shoes to kick-ass rebel.

We have seen her from the cute child star as she was, and then created a name for her self on the fashion scene. And yet again, we have seen her cut her hair to a pixie look, which shocked the Harry Potter fandom.

Her career reflects this thrilling behavior after accepting new challenging roles, the likes of which we could see in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Just recently she has been cast to another role way beyond her comforts as she will be playing a kick-ass looking Nicki for the movie The Bling Ring.

Here she is in her for Nicki regalia:

And if you think that peeking leather jacket and faded short-shorts is enough to make you drool, wait till you see her backside as she shows off her tramp stamp tattoo, tailored just for the movie:

Whoa! Nice view, isn't it? This just wanna make me watch the movie even if we are to wait for it for a couple of months. This dramatic changes surely is a plus for her and this just proves that she'll look beautiful no matter what she wears, glamour or not. But, don't worry guys this tattoo is only temporary, although I know some of you wanted it to be permanent.

The Bling Ring is a movie directed by Sofia Coppola and is inspired by a true story. The story will revovle around a group of tech-savvy teens who grew up in Hollywood and burglarized the homes of some famous actors and actresses like Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton Bilson and Audrina Patridge starting 2008 until 2009.

Surely, I will be the first in line once this movie is released on theaters.

Closer Look on Cobie Smulders: Avengers' Maria Hill

Cobie Smulders
After seeing the first few clips from The Avengers (or Avengers Assemble in some countries), I was immediately intrigued by the actress who is playing a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent that was having a discussion with Nick Fury. And after a few minutes of searching I was happy to know that she was actually the Canadian actress and former model Cobie Smulders: Avengers' very own Maria Hill.

Maria Hill, in the Marvel comics, was once the director of the inteligence service of the SH.I.E.L.D. and eventually became a part of the Avengers team in some versions and arcs. She is deemed to be Nick Fury's equivalent in terms of imposing and strong personality, and she is as harsh as well. In the movie she will be the field agent who works closely with Nick Fury himself.

Recently we have seen a clip of Smulders playing the character (and not only some stand in character, but with lines and dialogues as well):

Marvel has also released her two official photos:

Some of you might have seen her in the covers of Maxim in it previous issue. Check it out here:

Get to see more of Cobie Smulders in Avengers as it premiers on April 11, 2012.

New Photos From the Dark Knight Rises Surface Online

The Dark Knight Rises
We've got only three months left before the release of The Dark Knight Rises, sequel to the eleventh highest-grossing movies of all time The Dark Knight, and we haven't even seen so mush promo pictures and trailers from it. We only have a handful of tidbits and a trailer or two, which do not really give us anything. From the looks of it, we are not even sure if this movie will be able to surpass the hype its predecessor had.

But for fans out there who are digging for some geeky stuff, Entertainment Weekly gave us an opportunity to see some amazing pictures that Batman News had the liberty to post online. We have a few glimpses of Batman in full armor, along with femme fatale Catwoman and other characters, which included the villain of the story.

Check out the pictures below:

We also got Anne Hathaway in full Catwoman suit:

The Dark Knight Rises is the third in Christopher Nolan's take on the famous superhero that first kicked to action in DC Comics arc. This will be the last movie that will tell us the fate of Batman, or Bruce Wayne to his closest friends and allies. The movie will premiere on the 20th of July this year.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters News

Sea of Monsters
Five days from now, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters, sequel to the 2010 bluckbuster movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, will officially start production.

Close as we might get to the release of the movie, there have been only a few information that surfaced online that could give us light on what's happening with this movie adaptation based on the second book of the famous series written by Rick Riordan.

So far, here are a compilation of the latest updates that surround the movie.

This time around, Chris Columbus, who also directed the first two Harry Potter movies, will not be back to helm the movie. In his stead will be the movie-for-general-audience veteran, Thor Freudenthal. Freudenthal is the director of some of the best-loved movies for children and children at heart, both adapted and original, such as Hotel for Dogs, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Ramona's World.

Head replaces Brosnan as Chiron
Aside from Columbus, another old-timer cast will not return and be replaced by another actor. Peirce Brosnan, who once played the ass kicking camp trainer, Chiron, will be replaced by Anthony Head, best known for his Buffy the Vampire Slayer character, Giles. Now, I always got this feeling of uncertainty whenever a main character is played by varying actors as it will greatly affect a film series' continuity. Remembered what happened to Dumbledore?

The Main Cast
The three actors who played Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood will luckily reprise their roles. The thirteen-year old Percy will be played by the now twenty-year old Logan Lerman. Same age pattern is applicable with Alexandra Daddario, 26, as she will portray the teenage Annabeth. Brandon T. Jackson is likely the same age as Grover. They are a lot older than in the first movie because of the long intervals between productions.

I am a little excited with the new set of cast for the new characters in Sea of Monsters. There are quite a lot of them as the scope of the story is slowly expanding to a bigger scale.

We will get to see Hermes, the messenger of the Greek Gods, in this adaptation and he will be played by Nathan Fillion, who made a name for himself playing characters for TV series. Three actresses have also been cast: Mary Birdsong, Missi Pyle and Yvette Nicole Brown. They will fill in the shoes of the Fates, who will help the trio to fulfill their quest.

Young sets of actors have also been cast for the movie. Douglas Smith is on negotations to play a yet-to-be-known character. Thalia, who see to the mythical tree that guards the Camp Half-Blood, will be played by Canadian newcomer Paloma Kwiatkowski. Recently, it has been announced that Leven Rambin, who aslo played as a tribute in The Hunger Games movie, will be playing Clarisse, the daughter of Ares that was entrusted a very important quest.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea Of Monsters follows the adventures of Percy, with the help of his friends, to find the mythical Golden Fleece in the treacherous depths of the Sea of Monsters.

Hunger Games Sequel: Catching Fire Movie News

Catching Fire
Movie Adaptation
"And may the odds be ever in your favor!"

Now that the reputation of the Hunger Games trilogy has been established after scoring high in the box office, Lionsgate has green lit the production on the adaption of The Hunger Game sequel, Catching Fire. In fact, it has already been announced that sequel will premiere on November 22, 2013. But on this early stage of its production, the movie has already encountered some minor road blocks.

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen
We have a reason to believe that the old cast for the main characters will return as The Hollywood Reporter indicated in their February 2012 issue that Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have all signed on to the whole franchise. This is of course for continuity sake. Lionsgate will also be a fool to change the cast for Katniss Everdeen, after fans has already shared a liking to Jennifer Lawrence, who made a buzz after posing for Esquire magazine or Josh Hutcherson's Peeta Mellark or Liam Hemsworth's Gale Hawthorne as they have also made their selves indispensible. They have already built a chemistry on screen and Lionsgate wouldn't want to blow it by changing them with other actors.

It is also known that Jennifer Lawrence once played the younger Mystique in X-Men: First Class. Reportedly, it is said that a sequel has already been in the works with an unfortunate schedule conflict with Catching Fire. Lucky for Lawrence, Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox have come to an agreement and made a settlement on the actress's schedule. This really makes Jennifer Lawrence a hot shot for the fact that movie studios and companies are juggling her among them. Whew!

Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark
Unlike Hunger Games, which was penned by Gary Ross and Billy Ray together with the author of the series, Catching fire will be adapted by Slumdog Millionaire screenwriter, Simon Beaufoy, should the negotations come through. Despite the movie's nearing production in the fall of 2012 Gary Ross, the director of the first movie, and Lionsgate had not yet made a final settlement to direct the second one. And now we hear reports that Ross will definitely not return on the director's chair after having some disagreement with the paycheck.

This is a bad news of course, because personally I wanted for him to return as director. He is himself a fan of the book trilogy and we could rely on him to keep the movies faithful to the books. Now the studio has to find another director to the sequel, which could mean an alteration in the sequel's tone, style, and overall outcome. What a shame that the movie will have to follow the faith of some great movie series with varying directors that caused a lot of confusion, horrible continuity and styles varying to the extemes.

Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne
But we fans don't have to worry because this will all be solved by the time we are going to watch Catching Fire in cinemas on November 22, 2013. I really just hope there won't be any delays on the movie's release.

Check out my Hunger Games movie review.

Bond Girls of the New James Bond Movie Skyfall

James Bond Girls
Updated: Added videos of the Bond Girls.

I was glad to know that the new and upcoming James Bond movie has been on production for months now. This time around Daniel Craig will have to fill in the shoes yet again of the famous M16 Agent 007, James Bond.

Skyfall is the twenty-third movie of the lot so far and is to be directed by Sam Mendes, who also directed American Beauty (1999) and Road to Perdition (2002). What's good in playing this playboy M16 agent, aside from instant fame and reputation, is that you will have to work with hot ladies that compose the ranks of Bond Girls. Lucky for Craig he will not only have one but three Bond Girls in Skyfall.

Get a glimpse of the Bond Girls featured in the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall:

Bérénice Marlohe

Bérénice Marlohe
This lovely French specimen will be playing Sévérine, a character inspired by the GoldenEye villainess, Xenia Onatopp. Although, I am not sure if Daniel Craig would bed this femme fatale or not, we have yet to discover that.

Naomie Harris

Naomie Harris
We all remember her witty character Tia Dalma from The Pirates of the Caribbean. But this time around she will play James Bond's fellow field agent named Eve. Many believed that she is in fact Moneypenny, who was once M's secretary, but Harris would not confirm so and according to her, Eve "is Bond's equal, but she is really his junior."

Tonia Sotiropoulou

Tonia Sotiropoulou
This Greek goddess is the latest addition to the collection after revealing it herself in her Facebook account that she has been cast as a secondary character. The only thing is, we are not sure if she belongs to the good guys or the bad, but we all know it doesn't really matter since being a villain or ally does not stop James Bond from slipping in between her pants, does it?

In Skyfall, James Bond seems to question and doubt M, his boss, after some secrets of her past were exposed and revealed. This revelation is not only an attack to the head of M16, but to the entire M16 itself and Bond must confront and eliminate this threat no matter how personal this chase would become. Will he stay loyal to M16 or will he finally do the thing M has feared the most?

Who are you most definitely looking forward to see in this movie? Make sure to watch these Bond Girls in action as it premieres on the 26th of October, 2012.
