2012 Billboard Music Awards Finalists and Nominees

Billboard Music Awards
Having swept the Grammy's by storm, Adele has once again taken the lead in this year's Billboard Music Awards finalists. It is no surprise then that we can expect many awards for her. But aside from Adele, many artists were nominated also in their respective categories. Rihanna, of course, won't allow this without having a fight. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are also among the nominees together with Foster the People, Scotty McCreery and Wiz Khalifa, who was featured in the just recently released Maroon 5 single Payphone.

To be broadcasted live on May 20, 2012 on ABC, the 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be held at Las Vegas' MGM Grand. It will be in celebration of last year's Billboard's chart rankings as evidenced by fan interactions with the artists' music. Some parameters for the awards also include album sales and digital downloads, touring, track downloads and radio airplay together with streaming and interactions on social medias that caters affinity for music.

Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound, and other data providing companies will help in tracking and measuring the results for these parameters of the previous year, specifically the periods in between March 1, 2011 and February 29 of this year. Through this awards we will be able to know who the fans really liked or not.

Heidi Montag's Hot "Dreams Come True" EP Cover

Heidi Montag
I was not quite a fan of EP's (or Extended Plays), but from time to time I tend buy one and check out if it's really worth listening to. Thanks to Trading Yesterday's Everything is Broken, I was able to get over my aversion towards this media platform and seemed to build a liking towards it, other than the most commonly appreciated official studio albums.

But then again this liking was even more heightened by one of the latest addition to the EP compilations when Heidi Montag allowed us to get a glimpse of her Dreams Come True EP cover. Just like her fellow The Hills star, Lauren Conrad, she is making some noise of her own to get the attention of mostly the male denomination.

Just as recent as last April 11, 2012 we have this techy-hot new cover for her latest EP:

Heidi Montag Dreams Come True EP Cover
I am not sure if she and Lauren are on competition mode showing us their almost nude pics. Despite having undergone many aesthetic surgeries, I can't deny that this 25-year old mama still has the hots to shake that thing. It would be a pity for Spencer Pratt, her partner in life, if he would be so crazy to incite Heidi from divorcing him again. That would be simply dumb, I guess.

Dreams Come True will be Heidi Montag's third extended play, so far, with a two-year gap with her official studio album Superficial, released in 2010. The EP features four of her already released songs, which include Your Love Found Me, Party Is Wherever I Am, No More and Overdosin and will be available for digital download on its official release sometime this year.

Don't buy the EP just because you wanted to have a hard copy of this hot Dreams Come True cover, but also consider buying it for the appreciation of her music.

Maroon 5 Teams Up With Wiz Khalifa For Payphone

Maroon 5 Featuring
Wiz Khalifa
Updated: Added video of Maroon 5 with Wiz Khalifa performing Payphone on The Voice.

A hot new single titled Payphone has just been released by the famed band Maroon 5, whose lead singer has become hot topic for a while after joining the line of judges of the ongoing talent show The Voice and collaborating with fellow Judge Christina Aguilera for Moves Like Jagger.

This single, released last Monday, April 16, is in collaboration with American rapper, Wiz Khalifa, who has made a name for his own when he debuted in 2006 with Show and Prove. He is best known for winning the Sprint's Best New Artist award of the 2011 American Music Awards and has been moving forward with rewarding albums like Rolling Papers and the upcoming O.N.I.F.C. (short for Only Nigga In First Class or One Night In First Class), which is to be released on August 28, 2012.

Listen to the single Payphone, the latest addition to the upcoming album by Maroon 5, Overexposed:

The latest singles from Maroon 5 are really heating up in the recent months and that just leaves us a promise of an exciting new album with Overexposed. We can hear in this single the distinct signature voice of the band's lead, Adam Levine, and add up to that Khalifa's precise and understandable rap. This catchy beat and rythmn is surely to make every fans crave for more.

Obviously, this is a reminiscent of the previously released Moves Like Jagger, which captured the attention of millions of music lovers. I have a reason to believe this will surely pick up the hype that the previous single has left us hanging with the need to have some more. Maroon 5 has really hit the mark with collaborating with other artists to get the attention of the contemporary audience.

You could also watch Adam Levine and his band with Wiz Khalifa as they perform live their new single Payphone on The Voice:

Personally, I really liked the song and I can't wait to hear it in its official disc release. Even if payphones are not in for a while with all the technology and hardware, even those who haven't used it could surely relate. It's so 1990's feel that wanna bring me back to my younger years. "If happy ever afters did exist," as the lyrics want to share with us, I guess this track would be it, a truly happy ever after. I could listen to this the whole time without getting ever tired or bored. I just can't stop my hands and feet from tapping and beating.

We will get the full taste of the album Overexposed when it is released on June 26, 2012.

First Original Single From Tanner Patrick, Merry Go Round

Tanner Patrick
I have first heard of Tanner Patrick when a friend of mine posted his cover of Christina Perri's A Thousand Years video on my Facebook wall. From then on I was hooked to his almost monthly productions of covers from varying artists and genres. And now, he is giving us his first original single Merry Go Round together with a music video, which he has been busy working on for the past months.

The first time I saw the video, which was released just recently, I really thought the song was about me. I couldn't shake the thought of the monotonous feeling in my job and my life. That's why I have to take a few steps back and find something to make my ordinary life become extraordinary.

From time to time, I imagined I was the guy in the video that is busily doing his job. I have the same knack of taking deep breaths and sighing to release my frustrations. I know I could be somewhere better other than doing my daily share of boredom. Maybe I could take a break and ride the figuratively-speaking merry go round of life, break the tides of the ordinary and see the goodness life can bring.

Now check out his music video for his single, Merry Go Round:

I kept on hitting the replay button for a couple of times now. I could really relate with the premise of the video casue its rooted to what's really happening in the lives of today's generation. Now if you are not satisfied with simply watching the video, you could sing along with the music through the help of this lyrics:

Tanner Patrick - Merry Go Round Lyrics

I was always taught
To stay inside the lines
But sooner or later
Ill be a trader
To the warning signs
I was always told
That Id never be
Anything other
Than what I am now
Look at me now

Chorus:
Im escaping to the sun
Sun, sun
Spinning like a merry go-round
Round, round
I dont ever want to
Slow down, down
I trust this ride tonight
X 2

Tonight, yeah

Everybody said
To have a back up plan
Thats an illusion
Its my decision
To build it by hands
You can always found me
On the other side of the line
Loosing my, loosing my mind
Thats where I wanna be

Chorus

I like what you do to me
Without you Im incomplete
You always got me started
When Im escaping to the sun
Sun, sun
Spinning like a merry go-round
Round, round

Dont follow the line
We can break the tides
Well erase the night
And paint the sky

Im escaping to the sun
Sun, sun
Spinning like a merry go-round
Round, round
I dont ever want to
Slow down, down
I trust this ride tonight

Chorus

I like what you do to me
Without you Im incomplete
You always got me started
When Im escaping to the sun
Sun, sun
Spinning like a merry go-round
Round, round

We can break the tides
Well erase the night
And paint the sky

If you do like this Merry Go Round single and its music video, share it with your friends also.

Adele's Third Album Is Called 23, Or Not?

Adele
After becoming a household name due to her astronomical success with her second album, 21, I bet there is no music lover who doesn't know who Adele is.

Who would ever miss her almost landslide win and hair-raising performances on the 2012 Grammy Awards. In fact, just last March she has reached the 23rd week mark that her album 21 maintained the No. 1 spot in the Billboard Hot 200 charts, making it the longest-running No. 1 album since Prince's Purple Rain album released in 1984.

Wait! Is it just me or is it a coincidence that her second album did it only for 23 weeks? Or is this a premonition that we are about to discover that her third album will be called 23? This is so convenient knowing her first and second album were released only two years apart. To those who didn't know, her previous albums were titled based on the age she had by the time the albums were released and we could expect the same pattern for the third one.

Skyfall
Only a few things about her upcoming album is sure, though: she is busy working for her next album and that she would write her own materials for her songs: to record, produce and master it herself. We also got hold of a confirmed news that she will release a single from this album with a possibility of being considered as a soundtrack for the upcoming James Bond movie, Skyfall.

Although, personally, I was a little worried when she said last year that she considered "taking four or five years" of leave from producing her next album. Just recently, Adele suffered an ailment on her throat that required her to undergo a surgery and had to cancel all her remaining concert for 2011. Luckily, she was able to recuperate very well after the successful operation, allowing her to perform at the 2012 Grammy's and go back to her recording.

Never Tear Us Apart by Inxs

Reports were circulating online that this album will include a cover of Never Tear Us Apart, which she confessed is "probably my fave song of all time," that was originally performed by Inxs. She went on saying that she has already "five tracks to go." This is with a promise that she won't delve into the break-up arena anymore and that she is "done being a bitter witch," which is very apparent on her second album. This time around she will incorporate a positive feel on her songs and she added that "one of [the songs] is quite upbeat – a real ‘girl power’ type of song. The whole album will have quite a live feel to it."

Only on thing I can't seem to be convinced with is the artitle that The Guardian had about this album (after all the drivel that they have served us lately). In the article it claimed that Adele's third album will be influenced by American brand of music, such as acoustic, piano-led or even country music that she discovered during her US tours for her album 19. They even quoted her to say she wants "to spend some time in Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee, and learn about it." They even dragged the Sun by quoting her to say, "I feel like a four-year-old in a candy shop who's discovering sweets again. The melodies and to-the-point lyrics I have found in a lot of American styles of music is definitely something I'm going be pursuing heavily from now on... Every day is amazing when it comes to discovering new artists."

Now, I am not sure about this last piece of information, but if turned out to be true maybe I will have a change of heart for The Guardian. Although, I was really rooting that the album be called 23, for I have this OC behavior for albums. We may have to wait until the 5th of May this year, before Adele turns 24 years old at that specific date. But I guess that would be unlikely so...

New Justin Bieber Song Boyfriend is Truly a Mess

Justin Bieber
Updated: Added a clip of the music video that premiered on The Voice.

"If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go
I can take you places you ain't never been before
Baby take a chance or you'll never ever know
I got money in my hands that I'd really like to blow."

These are the opening lines of the latest Justin Bieber single. I don't really hate him, just so you know. In fact, I like most of his songs especially if its Pop, but his latest song titled Boyfriend makes me cringe as it's very different from what he has done lately. I don't know but this song is not really jibing with me. This is not so Justin Bieber kind of song that I once used and liked to listen.

Hear the song for yourself to know what I mean:

Now, after hearing Justin Bieber's Boyfriend, would you agree with me when I say that he isn't really fit for rap. I would rather hear him in a serenade like what he has done in Mistletoe. No offense to his collaborator, Mike Posner, who is also one of the many artists that I look upon, this song has really no meat at all. What's with all the repetitive lyrics and almost boring beats. I really hope this single from his upcoming album Believe does not cap it all, because if it does I really wouldn't buy the album.

I was disapointed after expecting great music from JB. But despite hating this song that does not mean that I hate JB also. He has done many great songs the likes of which I don't need to mention, and one misplaced song couldn't overthrow that liking.

Hopefully, the music video that is about to be released in the coming days would redeem this failing single, but by the looks of it I don't think it would do so.  Not even a play of lightings and disembodied hands would be able to do that. Lucky for Justin Bieber he has some fandom that still follows him no matter what and that is already enough to maintain his album sales.

Check out a peek of Justin Bieber's Boyfriend that premiered on The Voice:

Do buy his album Believe this summer and see if you could dig out some better songs other than this one. If you did find some good stuff in it, please tell me. Please do check back or I will post here his complete music video should it be officially released.

Top 5 Most Essential Madonna Albums

Madonna
Just like wine, Madonna gets better and better as time goes by. Madonna has been an icon of the last two to three decades and even the contemporary artists couldn't beat her off the stage.

Many tried to follow on her steps to fame, the likes of which include Lady Gaga and , I dare say, Britney Spears, but they couldn't even topple her. She has stood the test of time that it is only proper I give you the list of albums that made her the Queen of Pop.

In no particular order, here are the top five Madonna albums that you may find most essential:

Music (2000)

Aside from the fact that this album was well-received by critics and audience alike, this album has garnered five Grammy nominations all because of the album's musical freedom and creativity, not to mention Madonna's highly esteemed collaboration with Mirwais. This mixture of electronic and dance-pop music evetually won its well earned Grammy "Best Recording Package." Released last September 19, 2000, it became a certified behemoth after it debuted number one on more than 20 countries, easily sold more than four million copies on its first ten days and was eventually included on Rolling Stone magazine 500 Greatest album of all Time.

American Life (2003)

This contagious concoction of pop, electronica, rock and dance-pop music was released last April 22, 2003. Until then it has debuted at number one spot on many countries including United Kingdom and United States. Although it received a little number of Grammy nominations compared to Music (only two nominations) this did not stop it from gaining its certified Platinum sales recognition. Despite its lukewarm welcome from critics, this albums still surged to the mainstream after four singles were released that gained her more general audience. This is Madonna's second album to be labelled with "Parental Advisory," the first of which was Erotica (1992).

Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005)

Influenced by 70s and 80s disco, as well as modern-day club music, this album is completely different from her previous albums. This is also the album where she severed collaboration with Mirwais Ahmadzaï after they recorded two of the twleve official tracks of the album, for she felt the team up is not working well anymore. Many critics praised the album for its contemporary appeal that lead to her winning of Grammy's "Best Dance/Electronic Album" in 2007 and "International Female Solo Artist" at the 2006 BRIT Awards. The album was at its peak when it gained top spot on 40 countries world wide, giving it a 2007 Guinness Book of World Records recognition as the album topping the chrts in most number of countries.

Hard Candy (2008)

Hard Candy was Madonna's first (and maybe last) collaboration with Justin Timberlake, and this is also her last album with Warner Bros. Records. This autobiographical album gained her favorable response from critics. Released on April 28, 2008, it has then topped the charts of 37 countries and sold more than four million copies worldwide. Even this album was not well received as her Confessions album this does not stop the album from raking the charts in the United States, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. The album has gained  a score of 65/100 on Metacritic over the years and her move of changing studios and collaborating with a new artist finally paid off.

MDNA (2012)

Just recently released album was her first album released by Interscope Records and not by Warner Bros. records. Released on march 23, 2012, the album has received generally positive reviews from critics. Similar Hard Candy the album has received an average of 65/100 ratings on Metacritics. Still hard on sales, the album debuted top spot in the United Kingdom (her twelfth album to have received such charts in UK), passing Elvis Presley's record chart for a solo artist with most top charts albums in United Kingdom. So far out of its one month release over the iTunes it has topped the charts in more than 50 countries and it is also said that the album was so far the biggest one day pre-order of any album in iTumes history. Now top that!

You may notice that the albums in the list are the exact last five albums Madonna has released. It is simply because one is prejudiced to music released during his or her generation. What better music appeals to you the most, but the music especially tailored for your generation, right?

This half Mexican, half Filipina power ball has definitely captured the attention of millions of people. Who would have thought that this 16 year old Diva would have made it again in the big scene after being accepted in American Idol Season 11. Jessica Sanchez, short for Jessica Elizabeth Sanchez, was once a contender also for first season of the America's Got Talent. Lucky she didn't win, for she may have not the chance of being accepted on the running season of the American Idol.

So far she has made it through the top seven and I believe there is no stopping her. We have seen her in highs and lows (but I can say there are more highs than lows), and last week she has awed the judges and the viewers alike once again.

So for your delight and satisfaction let us have a recap of her previous performances that brought her to where she is now:

The One That Got Away

Surprise!
It's almost a month since my last post. My tiny head was kind of busy processing gigantic realities that a corn kernel could even handle. Once in a while though some realities are so good that I have to share them to John and his whimsical mood. Just these past days he has been to a lot of adventures: leaving me lying alone on my tiny nook and hoping that I would not rot to death and boredom.

So once in a while, to spare me the boredom, I surf around the net to look for something that would spark my interest and here are some of the ones that never got away my mind:

The One That Got Away With Numerous Awards
Adele at the 2012 Grammy Awards
During the 2012 Grammy Awards, Adele owned the night by garnering six awards which included Best Album, Record and Song of the Year. I am sick of Adele with all those heart wrenching songs, but John couldn't say the same cause he adores her and drinks every word of her songs.

The One That Got Away With So-So Box Office Sales
John Carter Movie Poster
John always thought that this movie will reach No.1 Box office hit on its peak, but I guess it would never really come to light. As much I would like to pray to boost this movie's sales I wouldn't dare to cause I am not just built for this kind of things.

The One That Got Away With Most Votes
Jessica Sanchez of American Idol 12
After wowing the Judges last week, Jessica has somehow lost the top spot to a fellow contestant. The judges wasn't quite amazed with her recent performance singing the song Turn the Beat Around by Vicki Sue Robinson. But despite all that Jessica is still reining in polls gaining 28% out of total votes.

So that's for today folks. See you next time should there be a chance I could escape John and this well guarded prison cell.

Playing With A Little Morse Code

Morse Code
After seeing Dr. John Watson tinkering with some Morse Code device, it triggered in me to somehow make use of this observation. In a world where anything that you see is not what it seems to be, how can we be certain what we are seeing, hearing or saying are for real. Nothing's for real: even the law of universe states that reality is relative and nothing close to being absolute.

Being an imaginary friend, having already acknowledged that fact for years, my reality is only relative to my creator, John. That is why I will play some little realities here together with a little morse code.

It seems only yesterday that we enrolled as grade one students and here we are now: grown ups and laden with the burdens of a growing man. Just like this video, it seems only like yesterday when The Moffatts sang this for the very first time and now we only seldom here them in concerts, listening die-hard fans and the likes.

Try as we might, we will not last for long. We are not immortals, who could surpass the test of time and eternity. Fading away from this world is our destiny and it means everything is temporary: your joys and happiness, your tears and problems. They will all pass.

We are all born to die. Easy as that!

About A Startling New Find

Hmmm...
Ross, or John, or whatever you might want to call him was very thankful of Mayad Studios after he watched one of the video trailers that the studio offered and gave him a starling new elated feeling. On one of its videos the studio featured a song that rattled John's insides and innards. It went along with a lyric of "I am waiting for you to change my name...", and it was strange since it's usually the girl that changes name and not the guy (who performed the song), whenever they get married. Queerer and queerer indeed.

So using the power of the net, he searched and searched for the title of the song so that eventually he may discover the artist and obviously download all of its albums. And lo, he dug out this strangely beautiful song:

And after listening to the song's entirety, I can't undserstand why once again he was sold. He itched to find all of their album and he found one studio album, one demo album and finally one extended play. He shared with me that it was a bliss, a bliss I couldn't relate with. I pity him since he easily gets attached to things or people he haven't even known for a long time. It's sad, but its the truth. Maybe, that is mainly the reason why he wouldn't want to mingle with others and eventually attach himself to anyone, because he will find it very hard to detach with the same person.

On the other, John was also busy reading a book series called Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver. He has read the books once, but he wanted to read them again because, according to him, it has a great and unique story set on the ancient times and it was an easy book to read. He urged me to read it, but I wouldn't even dare touch them. Duh!

Sigh, sometimes I wondered why I have ever become friends with John because we can't even relate with each other.
